Layers and Rhythm: Dynamic Expression of Spatial Layout

We meticulously designed the new office space for INFOLD in Los Angeles, USA. This project not only overcame the challenges of cross-national communication and cultural differences but also cleverly addressed the spatial limitations of the building itself. The building features a unique sawtooth-shaped fa?ade, and its overall layout is L-shaped, posing significant challenges for spatial planning. Through thoughtful design strategies, we not only resolved these issues but also created a spatial layout that is layered and rhythmically dynamic. By fully utilizing the zigzag lines of the fa?ade, we transformed corners that might have resulted in wasted space into regular square areas. Each small space retains its square form, and through a clever arrangement, they are organized into a richly layered and orderly spatial sequence. This design not only enhances the sense of order in the office area but also imbues the space with a dynamic flow, providing INFOLD’s employees with a workspace that is both functional and visually appealing.
The reception area at the entrance is seamlessly connected to the front desk, creating a unique atmosphere that is both relaxed and subtly formal. The floor features a gray tone, sharply contrasted by gradient red carpeting in select areas, clearly delineating the front desk zone while showcasing a minimalist yet distinctive identity. This design strikes a balance between professionalism and vitality, allowing visitors to immediately sense the company's unique charm and tranquil ambiance upon entering.
The transition between the flooring materials and wall finishes in the corridor creates a visually distinct sense of layering, establishing a "progressive" spatial rhythm. Different textured materials are used at the junctions of the floor and walls, allowing light to softly reflect and refract on their surfaces. The interplay of light and shadow changes with the passage of time, infusing the corridor with a dynamic sense of vitality.
▲走廊連接的辦公區(qū)、樓梯與打印區(qū) /Office area, stairs and printing area connected by corridor
The staircase is not merely a passage connecting the two levels; we have thoughtfully integrated a printing area and a towering wooden bookshelf beside it, adding both functionality and aesthetic value to what is typically a mundane space. The light wood tones harmonize seamlessly with the surrounding gray and white environment, creating a cohesive and unified visual effect that enhances the overall sense of the space. These carefully crafted design details transform the corridor from a simple passageway into a "transitional space" linking various functional areas. Through a rhythmic design language, the entire office space is seamlessly connected, imparting greater spatial depth and a dynamic sense of rhythm.
